Overview
Midigama is the true “surf soul” of Sri Lanka’s southern coast. While neighboring Weligama is buzzing with beginners, Midigama is where seasoned travelers and wave hunters go for a more authentic, laid-back vibe. It’s a place of king coconut stalls, deep reef breaks, and a community that lives by the tides.
The journey from Colombo to Midigama covers about 145 km and has become significantly easier with the Southern Expressway. A private taxi is the gold standard for this route—especially for surfers. While the “Coastal Train” is beautiful, trying to fit a surfboard bag into a crowded 3rd-class carriage is a challenge you don’t need. Our private transfers get you from the city to the surf in just 2 to 2.5 hours, arriving fresh and ready for a sunset session.
